China's furniture industry sees steady recovery in Jan-Feb 2024

Official data showed that China's economy maintained a good recovery momentum as its macro policies took effect, and it started the year well.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first two months of 2024, most key indicators showed solid growth, employment remained generally stable, and new economic growth momentum and advantages began to accumulate.

Liu Aihua, a spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics, said that given China's solid performance in January and February, China has the conditions and support to achieve the full-year growth target of around 5% in 2024 by increasing efforts.

Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology showed that China's furniture industry rebounded strongly in the first two months of 2024.

According to the ministry, the combined operating income of China's major furniture manufacturers increased by 14.9% year-on-year to 91.78 billion yuan (about 12.92 billion U.S. dollars).

The companies achieved a total profit of 4.71 billion yuan in the same period, a year-on-year increase of 198.1%.

The Ministry of Commerce said that the optimization and adjustment of China's local real estate policies has raised market expectations, and key projects including affordable housing and urban village renovation have driven the recovery of the furniture industry.
